A Den of Robbers- Kerala Nun Rape (Bishop Franco) Case: Part 2

Happened to read the message by Changanassery Arch Bishop Fr.Joseph Perumthottam. He tries to project Bishop Franco's arrest as some kind of a harassment faced by Christians. Kanjirappally Bishop even went to the extent of comparing Bishop Franco with Christ who was crucified inspite of being innocent! What a comparison! As if Bishop Franco is into some freedom struggle for the country!!

Dear Bishop, did you ever bother to listen to what that nun went through? Why don't you feel that the church should support her? Why is the support only for the Bishop? Did you (by any chance) hear that more and more cases are coming up against this Bishop? Have you heard of Sr.Abhaya and many other nuns who died in unnatural circumstances? Are you waiting to find more and more of such dead bodies in the convent wells?
Sr.Abhaya

There are certain things that every or any sensible Christian would want to speak out to the so called heads of Christian denominations(Especially Kerala Heads). Issues that we have been observing since generations. From various rape, impregnation cases to the unnatural deaths of nuns/priests to the misappropriation of funds and properties.

The money that you spend to wipe out these cases comes from the common man(More than 50 lakhs were spent for Bishop Franco's 2 days' stay at Crown Plaza, Cochin???) You stand strong on our sweat and hardships and play with the lives and dignity of our people. You can't protect your nuns, the so-called Brides of the God. But you can pour out money to save the rapists and criminals.

Years back, the narco analysis tests of the culprits(Fr.Thomas Kottoor, Fr.Jose Poothrikkayil, Sr. Sephy) in Sr.Abhaya murder case (St.Pius Xth Convent, Kottayam) were telecasted live on Indiavision channel. Everyone in their senses had heard what they said and got shocked when they explained how they carried out the murder.(Later the clergy tried making allegations like those are fake. Please try to fool someone else!)

Another black sheep of the community. Fr.Thomas Peelianickal, Executive Director of Kuttanad Vikasana Samithi(Alappuzha) had allegedly acquired loans by forming self-help groups under various names and forged documents for availing the loans from different banks in Alappuzha. The priest has been accused in six of such cases.

We see how Bishop George Alanchery is (still) being protected by the Chruch when the fund and property misappropriation cases came into light. But was happy to see some voices coming up against the anomalies.

You should see the dedication with which the nuns serve their congregations. And even if they have a job they are not supposed to take in the money they earned. It goes to the congregation. They are supposed to live in simplicity. If they give up the nun life, most of them don't even have a house to go back to. By the way, priests enjoy a lot more freedom than them. And can you even compare their lives with that of a Bishop's?

Fr.Nicholas Maniparambil (the Vicar of the rape victim Nun) visited Kuravilangad convent (where the nuns including the victim in Bishop case lives) along with a criminal, Saji Mookkannoor, the prime accused in Mokkannoor Thommi murder case . It seems he was trying to 'explain to them' that their ways are not right. A priest and a criminal. Awesome combination!

Life of those nuns are not going to be easy. More trauma is awaiting them. For they have raised their voices against injustice. While the Church say they are not biased, they are all words to prove that the Bishop is innocent. And what about the nuns? Oh! their ways are not right!! They knocked your doors umpteen number of times before taking it to streets. Were you all sleeping then?

The criminal minds of Church had tried to silence Sr.Lucy of Karakkamala (Mananthavadi,Wayanad) who supported the nuns. But they failed miserably when the people raised their voices.

Years back another good soul lived in Mananthavadi. You remember him? A priest. A gem of a person. Fr.Francis Njallampuzha, English Lecturer of Mary Matha College. He suffered enough mental trauma for all his good deeds that he did for the land and people there. He had to end there.
Fr.Francis Njallampuzha

Molesters like Father Robin Vadakumchery (again, of Mananthavadi diocese, who was arrested for raping and impregnating a minor) gets support from the church while nuns  and supporters in Bishop Franco case gets subjected to the revenge of the church. There are many many more cases like this. The sad part is when you have to witness the church hiding it from the eyes of the society by all means and protecting the culprits. Bishop Perumthottam says in his message that people are looking out for opportunities to defame the church. No, you are wrong. People waited and waited to see the cleansing being done by the heads of the community. Nothing happened. Then they raised their voices. Their voices are not against the faith, but against the injustice.

If you remember something from Bible:

Matthew 21:12-17
Jesus Cleanses the Temple
12 And Jesus entered the temple and drove out all who sold and bought in the temple, and he overturned the tables of the money-changers and the seats of those who sold pigeons. 13 He said to them, “It is written, ‘My house shall be called a house of prayer,’ but you make it a den of robbers.”

Yes, it is now a den of robbers.

Without any shame you visit homes to ask for donations. You become the owner of the assets created by us. But you are inaccessible when a common man need you. And our money, you use to protect the criminals. How many more Crown plaza bills are to be paid by us?? How many more Robins and Francos will you keep supporting? If the Church feels that believers are losing faith,no they are not. But they lose faith in the authorities who support the bad sheep. For they prefer to follow the path of truth and justice. You may better correct yourself atleast now. Clean up the system. And his house shall be a house of prayer!

NB: This post is certainly not for #BishopFranco Followers who claim that the Bishop is a Saint!

  1. Brilliant write-up. As is the case in any relegion, it's the believers who are the strength and support for the God's houses and their so called keepers. So any cleanup that needs to be done there should also come from the believers. Once the believers raise their voice against such misdeeds I'm sure these people can be kept in check rather than considering them as supremo uno whom no one can question.
