Meghamalai- An abode of clouds. Appooppanthaadi- A team of women from various walks of life joined together by Sajna.Unknown fellow travelers except a few. The common factor among all were that we loved traveling and exploring the unknown. We were 17. All came from somewhere and went back to somewhere. But in between, the time we had together was awesome!
The forest personnel were a little skeptical about sending us up there. Dusk had fallen. Wild animals around. No network connectivity. They won't be able to reach the spot in case of an emergency. By the time they were convinced we lost almost an hour there.
Now to the inner core of nature. Into the dark. To the heights. In the mist. In a chilling temperature of around 10 degrees. A 'no-device' break. Learned the basics of trekking. Walking to the camp-site uphill was itself a night-trekking experience. With no clear path.Nothing but darkness all around. With the help of torch lights. Without breaking the line and not losing the trail. Amidst leaches that were all over the place. Without halting anywhere so as to escape the attack of leaches.
Had dinner. Anything hot seemed so tasty. Slept in the warm tents to wake up to the view of foggy mountains. We missed the sunrise- forget the sun, even the trees nearby were not visible in the mist. Morning trekking of 8 kms up and down. Again, leaches gave a good company.
Atlast visit to the vineyard on our way back home.
Atlast visit to the vineyard on our way back home.
And then we returned. To our busy lives. With hopes to be back with the team again, on another refreshing journey. For another unwinding experience.
