India's Daughters

Two little hands to hug you tight when you return home. You feel relaxed. You forget the world. You hug her back. She feels safe inside your hands. Her curious little eyes filled with love. You see the world in them. When it gets dark and she don't return home from play-ground you hear your heart beating hard. And then the relief when you see her, even in untidy clothes and totally messy.
When your kid catch a fever or cold, you do everything to make her feel better. When your kid is hungry you give her enough good food so that little tummy is full.
Asifa. A little Hiedi who loved trees and birds and horses. Her parents. Nomads. Uneducated.Their long waits and searches for her in all the ways they could.Their prayers to the god they knew.Only to get her crushed body back. Her father's frantic calls for her went unheard. 8 days of unimaginable torture in the name of religion. No food, just sedatives. No safe hands that she could hold on to. No gods to save her.And with a god to silently watch her being killed inch by inch.

When will these gods open their eyes?
When will our kids be safe?
When will our laws be strong enough to protect us?
Never? Will it ever?
